Denise Weaver Ross and Jules Nyquist put this book together with editorial support from Andi Penner, Logan of Tortuga Gallery, and Elizabeth Austin—Julie’s nearly lifelong friend in Albuquerque. It is difficult to encapsulate Julie’s immense artistic and poetic talent and output into a single volume. We have done our best to honor and represent her work—primarily produced since moving to Albuquerque in 2010. Elizabeth has known Julie for nearly forty years, and the rest of us were privileged to know her for a decade during some of the happiest and most productive years of her life. Her loss leaves an unfillable hole in our hearts and in our creative community. We hope that Julie’s unique personality, sense of humor, and artistic sensibility are captured within these pages in some small way. For those meeting Julie for the first time, we invite you to find a comfy chair, sip tea or cocoa from your favorite cup, and stay a while.
