Reading from new works, followed by conversation.
$12 per person VIP seating, includes pizza, wine, lemonade. Must RSVP to reserve your seat. Limited seating, 12 seats available.
Back Porch readings include pizza from Placitas Pizza (veggie and gluten free options available), wine and lemonade in an intimate and beautiful setting. Autumn glory with usually a fabulous sunset viewed from Jules’ Poetry Playhouse Back Porch. Authors will have books for sale and will sign them. (If rain, we can be inside, however porch is covered).
Miriam Sagan & Catherine Strisik
Miriam Sagan is the author of over thirty books of poetry, fiction, and memoir. She is a two-time winner of the New Mexico/Arizona Book Awards as well as a recipient of the City of Santa Fe Mayor's Award for Excellence in the Arts and a New Mexico Literary Arts Gratitude Award. She has been a writer in residence in four national parks, Yaddo, MacDowell, Gullkistan in Iceland, Kura Studio in Japan, and a dozen more remote and interesting places. She works with text and sculptural installation as part of the mother/daughter creative team Maternal Mitochondria (with Isabel Winson-Sagan) in venues ranging from RV parks to galleries. She founded and directed the creative writing program at Santa Fe Community College until her retirement. Her poetry was set to music for the Santa Fe Women's Chorus, incised on stoneware for two haiku pathways, and projected as video inside an abandoned building during the pandemic under the auspices of Vital Spaces.
Catherine Strisik, poet, teacher, editor is author three poetry collections: Goat, Goddess, Moon forthcoming from Holy Cow! Press, October 2025; The Mistress (3: A Taos Press, 2016, awarded New Mexico/AZ Book Award for Poetry 2017); Thousand-Cricket Song (Plain View Press, 2010, second edition 2016); and chapbook: Insectum Gravitis (Main Street Rag, 2019, finalist New Mexico/AZ Book Award 2020). She is co-founder and editor of Taos Journal of Poetry (www.taosjournalofpoetry.com), former poet laureate of Taos, New Mexico, as well as the recipient of a Taoseña Award as Woman of Impact for decades of literary contribution in northern N.M. Strisik is a Pushcart nominee with over 30 years of publications with poetry translated into Greek, Persian, and Bulgarian. Currently she divides her time between Cape Ann, MA and Taos, N.M. from where she offers both live and online editorial consultations for essayists and poets and facilitates private and small group poetry workshops. www.cathystrisik.com
